


Mobile Commerce is Growing, powered by Remote Mobile Payments

Mobile online shopping in the U.S. tripled to $1.2 billion in 2009 over 2008 according
to ABI Research. Now, multiple analysts, including Juniper Research, are projecting
global mobile payments to grow to more than $630 billion by 2014. Much of this will
come from remote mobile payments. "Increasing numbers of Americans are more
comfortable than ever using their mobile phones for commerce." This article
overviews three types of remote mobile payments: carrier billing, card-based billing
and registration-based models. Each are generating interest and revenue today.
